Ton Cools PhD

Ton Cools

Chairman of Zero-Kap since January 2009. Following a study of psychology at Utrecht University Ton Cools was a research fellow and later head of the research group on developmental psychology at the same University. Following that period he was director of a number of institutes for the physically and mentally handicapped people, chairman of the board of 2 psychiatric hospitals and finally chairman of the board of a centre for the psychologically diturbed people. International cooparation brought him into Greece and Roumania, where he managed a variety of projects in the area of child psychology. Following his working carrier he was a coorpartor and manager for PUM in Eastern Europe, Africa and country coordinator for Indonesia.

 

Erika van Scheijndel-Eelderink RA

Erika van Scheijndel-EelderinkTreasurer of zero-kap is senior manager with KPMG Accountants. Prior to studying economy at Amsterdam University, she graduated in sport sciences at the Amsterdam Free University. She is an enthousiastic mountaineer and likes to jog. Her professional interest is very much directed at the not-for-profit sector, including charitative institutions and the not-for-profit sector. Consequently such organizations form a major part of her clientele. Her competences are accountancy, governance, reporting, administrative organization and internal control.

 

Drs. Dik Stroband

Dik StrobandSecretary. He graduated at Nyenrode Business University and subsequently in development economy at Amsterdam University.  He worked at the Netherland Centre for Foreigners where he was responsible for selections and execution of (micro-) credit programmes directed at repatriating immigrants on behalve of the Ministry of Devellopment Aid. Later he had a variety of like responsabilities, the latest as a senior manager at the Netherlands Centre for Labour and Income (CWI).  His competencies are governance, organization and credit allocation.

 

Ruud Bakhuizen

Ruud Bakhuizen

 Ruud Bakhuizen is owner/director of Hoge Raedt Group, a holding in real estate. Together with his spouse he founded FEMI. FEMI foundation supports educational projects in developping countries, especially focussing on children living in poverty and having slim chances to improve their living conditions withou education. Bakhuizen is board member of Zero-Kap, chairman of FEMI foundation and also a board member of other organizations active in the fierld of international cooperation.  His competencies are real estate, participation, educational development and international development.

Drs. Edith Gommers

Edith GommersStudied health sciences and political sciences at the Free University of Amsterdam. Presently she is employed as manager of the unit intensive care of an Amsterdam hospital. Earlier she worked as sales manager for Sanofi-Aventis, as a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry and as International product manager for Reed Elsevier. She worked a couple of years in Costa Rica for the Dutch Ministry of Development Aid. She was a board member for Zero-Kap between 2003 and 2008. Presently she is a manager at a hospital in Aruba.

 

Rens de Groot Msc

Rens de GrootRens de Groot was Chairman of the Board of CWI (The Netherlands Employment Agency) until September 2008 when he retired. He studied politicology at Amsterdam Free University and planology at Amsterdam University. Earlier he was a consultant and interim manager at a variety of government organizations, vice director of the Institute for Policy Science (IBW) at The Hague and Vice director of the Institute for Housing Studies (IHS) at Rotterdam. He was Zero-Kap chairman from 1983 to 2009. His competencies are management, social security, employment policies, urbanization and international development.

 

Bonne de Jonge

is a graduate from Delft Technical University. He worked for the most part of his career as a project developer for the European Commission in many countries, where he developed airports, harbours and other large scale projects. He will bring is his experience to help develop the small scale projects with Zero-Kap.

Jan Willem Kamp LL.M.

Jan Willem Kamp

 Kamp studied law at the Catholic University Brabant (KUB) at Tilburg, The Netherlands. Subsequently he worked as a barrister for the law firm Van Wijmen Nouwen (at present AKD Prinsen Van Wijmen) at Rotterdam and then as senior lawyer and legal council for Philips Electronics at Eindhoven. Prsently he works as a free-lance legal council and interim manager.

 

Sonja Kersten MsC

Sonja KerstenKersten is medical biologist (University of Utrecht) and presently employed as internal consultant with the Society for Integral Cancer Centres at Utrecht. Earlier she worked as a research fellow at the UTrecht University Medical Center and a brief period as advisor on HIV transmission with the City Health Department at Mutare, Zimbabwe. In the course of 2005 she retreated as a regular advisor to Zero-Kap in order to spend more time with her family, however she maintained her portfolio of African projects that she initiated.

 

May May Meijer PhD

May May MeijerAdvisor to Zero-Kap. She is a graduate of the Hotel School of Maastricht and subsequently studied coomunication at the State Universities of Amsterdam and Utrecht. She worked at Nyenrode Business University until she decided to opt for a PhD in social sciences. Presently she is a senior researcher in the philanthropy section of the Amsterdam Free University. She has been always very active in society as a regional board member of a political party, chairman of the society of PhD students, editor of the member journal of the syndicate of academic workers and founder of a theatre group.

Lillian Mulder-Lubega

Lillian Mulder-Lubega

 Mulder is the editor of Zero-Kaps newsletter. She is born and grew up in Uganda and only recently she arrived with her family in the Netherlands. In Uganda she worked as a communications expert for Unicef and a programme maker at Radio Uganda. In that function she was responsible for newscasting and programmes on the position of women. In the Netherlands she worked part time as te editor for a number of volunteer organizations and most recently Wilde Ganzen.

 

Drs. Charles Ruys

Charles Ruys Mr. Ruys is a business economist from Groningen University. His first job brought him into Cameroon where he institutionalized a co-operative credit and savings scheme, an organization that in todays terminology should be presented as a micro-finance organization. Back in The Netherlands he worked for Rabobank in a wide variety of functions. He was bank director, credit manager, interim manager and finally director of Rabobank Foundation. Recently he is self employed as a consultant for microfinance (His company is Each BV).

Dr. Emiel Wegelin

Emiel Wegelinis director of UrbAct (International Advisory Services for Urban Action, Rotterdam, an international consultancy office for urbanization and popular housing development. Earlier he worked in the same area for a number of international organizatiosn such as UNDP, World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. He has been director of the Institute for Housing Studies (IHS) at Rotterdam. He studied Economy at Amsterdam University and authored many reports and refereed papers on urbanization in developing countries.  Wegelin was a board member to Zero-Kap between 2003 and 2008 when he moved to Manilla.

dr. Jan Willem Henfling

Jan Willem HenflingDirector of Zero-Kap and its only part-time employee. He studied biology at Utrecht University and received a PhD in biochemistry and Agricultural sciences at the Kentucky State University (USA). Presently he is self employed as a consultant in food safety and quality issues in food and especially fisheries industry. He worked 13 years as a crop protection specialist in the tropics (mainly Latin America) for the Worls Bank, UN and at the International Potato Centre. In the Netherlands he worked as a department head at Solvay, responsible for pesticide Development . Subsequently he was vice director of the Research Institute for Crop Protection and director of the Netherlands Institute of Fisheries Research.
