Companies and Funds

The primary objective of Zero-Kap is to supply our partners in developing countries with small loans (project values range between € 12.000 and € 50.000).

As benefactors we primarily aim at entrepreneurs, companies and funds that are seeking a sustainable outlet for their ambition to support starting business and poor people in developing countries to become self sufficient and independent. Similarly those organizations.

In any event of a substantial donation we negotiate with the donor on the sort of project to be supported, or together we select a project. Our donors also may themselves bring in the project that they want to support and leave the daily management and supervision to us. In all these cases the particular project should fit with our criteria in terms of target group, scope of the project and that it does concern a loan that has to be paid back. Once the project is finished and the money paid back to Zero-Kap we will again  negotiate the reutilization of the money with the original donor. It may then go to an entirely  new project or as a new loan to the same beneficiary for a second phase in his project*).

Hence Zero-Kap in certain cases does act as an intermediary between Western entrepreneurs and enterprises with thheir starting colleages in developing countries that require starting capital as well as knowledge, advice and support.   In 2007 two Zero-Kap projects were facilitated in this way. In one case it does concern a fisheries project and in the other case a home building pilot.

We call on entrepreneurs, companies and funds to support our work with starting small businesses in developing countries.

*) Yearly Zero-Kap will utilize 2% of any loan to cover costs and risks. When negotiating a new loan we negotiate about 90% of the earlier donation, assuming that it was a 5 year loan. As long as the value of that amount is over € 30.000 the original donor does have a decisive voice in redestination or he may propose his own project (as long as the new project does fit within Zero-Kap objectives).
